Canoa Ranch Restoration: Tucson Arizona

Principal Consultant - Historic Preservation
This State Registered Landmark just south of Tucson Arizona remained a working ranch until purchased by Pima County for restoration and convertion to a living museum. As principle consultant for the project, while with Crocker & Associates, Jonah Stanford provided structural stabilization recomendations and developed seizmic retrofiting details. The facility represented over 200 years of traditional lime plaster use and application. Jonah developed specifications for restoration of historic plasters and new lime plaster applications.

 

V-Site: Los Alamos National Labs

 

V-Site Los Alamos National Labs Client: U.S. Department of Energy

Project Manager - Historic Preservation
The V-Site, located within a high security area of Los Alamos National Labs, was the facility used to assemble the ffirst detonated atomic bomb, known as the "Trinity Device". The group of buildings are listed on the National Historic Registry now listed as World Heritage Sites. In 1955, the facility was abandoned after sucessful detination of the Trinity Device. Jonah Stanford provided all architectural services and historic preservation consulting for the restoration of the facility while project managing with Crocker & Associates. In 2007 the project won the New Mexico Heritage Preservation Award for Architectural Heritage as "Exemplary Restoration of the V-Site of the Manhattan Project that successfully challenged the boundaries of historic preservation". In 2008 it won the National Trust/Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Award for federal Partnerships in Historic Preservation.

Consultant - Structural Stabilization of Historic Structures
Huricane Katrina destroyed hundreds of historic buildings along the Mississippi Coast. As part of an effort to begin the restoration effort, Jonah Stanford provided sturctural assessments of damaged structures and recomnnedations for restoration.
